The Literacy Council is one of 23 agencies chosen for the XPrize Communities Competition. What does that mean?

It means we have been awarded funding to bring mobile learning to ANYONE,  ANYWHERE, ANY TIME in our Central Alabama Service and throughout the state. It also means we’re in the running for up to $100,000 in additional funding.

XPrize

How can you help?

Download, use, and share one or more of the four apps chosen as part of the Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE . We receive points for every person who downloads one of the four apps and uses it on at least three different days. The more points we have the closer we get to winning $100,000 to support our mission to improve the lives of adults and their families through literacy education that teaches people to read, write, and speak English.

Here are a few details on how to download the apps and get started.

  • Apps must be downloaded and used on Android smartphones or tablets.
  • Each person must use at least one app on at least three different days.
  • You must use The Literacy Council code 5522, entered at the beginning of the app download, to be counted.
  • The URLs listed below will take you directly to the selected app in the Google Play Store and should be pre-filled with  The Literacy Council code* (If the code does not pre-fill, users will enter The Literacy Council code – 5522 – to proceed.). These URLs must be accessed and used for app download on an Android phone or tablet, and not on a computer or laptop.
